"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" officially has an end date. The television show, which Colbert has hosted since 2015, will conclude on May 21, 2026. The CBS program has been airing for over three decades, with David Letterman as the original host.

Stephen Colbert had a special Valentine's Day surprise lined up for his wife, Evie McGee Colbert. The Late Show host featured his wife on the show on Feb. 5, and presented her with a stunning Tiffany necklace — with a catch.

The network had previously said the long-running late-night franchise would end in May 2026, after news broke last year that CBS planned to shut down the show entirely. The May 21 date now formally marks the end of the series, as well as the end of late-night programming on CBS.
