Former NFL coach Rex Ryan became visibly emotional during an ESPN segment on Sunday upon learning of New York Jets player Nick Mangold’s death.

Nick Mangold, the former All-Pro center for the Jets who spent all 11 of his NFL seasons with New York, has died, the team announced on Sunday.

"In 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease," Mangold wrote in a letter addressed to the Jets community.

Mangold’s death came less than two weeks after he and the Jets revealed that he needed a kidney transplant.
