First Alert, Windy weather
Digest more
A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Sunday night ahead of the potential for a line of strong and severe thunderstorms. The primary threats are damaging wind gusts and torrential heavy downpours. All other modes of severe weather are possible. Including an isolated tornado threat.
Here’s what the First Alert Weather Team said you can expect for the First Alert Weather forecast: Tracking partly cloudy and dry conditions for Friday evening with temperatures in the 70s and 60s. Tonight will be dry with overnight lows dropping to the lower to mid 50s.
Cloud cover will increase again through the afternoon for those further north. Storms are still on their way for Friday evening.
Notice the wind direction change after midnight and the spike that comes with it. There is likely to be surge in the wind speeds with gusts near 60 mph between midnight and 4am, especially near and north of I-80. That could lead to possible damage in places. Wind gusts near 60 mph qualify for severe thunderstorm gust threshold.
Be sure to check the TV5 First Alert Weather App so you can get the latest warnings and updates from the National Weather Service. Radar shows mainly rain with some isolated frozen precipitation across Roscommon, Ogemaw and Iosco counties. We’re hoping the worst of the icing is behind us, but roads there can still be slick.
