Multiple earthquakes, including one at 6.2 magnitude, struck western Japan late Tuesday morning local time, centered in Shimane Prefecture and neighboring Tottori Prefecture.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 struck Afghanistan on Tuesday, a statement by the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was the eastern part of Shimane Prefecture, the agency said, adding that a tsunami warning had not been issued, Reuters reported.
