NEWFIELDS — Through their new catering kitchen, the Vernon Family Farm has found an innovative way for people to get a taste of their locally raised food directly on the farm where it was produced.

Chefs work long shifts, often on evenings, weekends and holidays. Farmer hours are not much better; they must make hay (or plant corn, or pick strawberries) while the sun shines, as the saying goes.
