One man died and a second was taken into custody after a deadly snowmobile crash in Iron County. Investigation by the DNR and the Iron County Sheriff’s Office showed the two had been traveling together on Trail 17 in the Town of Oma Friday evening around 8:00 p.m..
A 22-year old Ohio man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a snowmobile accident in the central U.P. Saturday. According to a press release from the Michigan State Police, troopers from the Negaunee post responded to a report of snowmobile accident at approximately 10:30 Saturday night.
A 43-year-old woman was thrown from her snowmobile after accidentally hitting the accelerator while attempting a U-turn on a remote trail.

Operator seriously injured in Franconia snowmobile crash
While the crash is under investigation, authorities say both icy trails and speed appeared to be contributing factors.
The crash was reported on Trail 17 in the town of Oma Friday evening.
On Friday, January 16, at approximately 8:15 pm, Iron County Emergency Dispatch received a report of a two-snowmobile crash with one male severely injured. The crash occurred on Trail 17, approximately one mile north of County Highway G in the Town of Oma.
