Four hands working together to test this bellows and whistle from a clockwork singing bird 🎶. The piston varies the note and the rod next to the whistle opens and shuts the air supply. The bellows have two alternating pumping chambers which feed air into the upper reservoir chamber. This system ensures the whistle always has a steady supply of air. The pressure relief valve on the top prevents over inflation of the reservoir. Made around 120 years ago. Clever, isn’t it. More details in my book:
