I took on an incredible project: chainsaw milling an 8.5’ long, 21” diameter spalted maple log. For the first cut, I ran my Stihl MS 661 with a 36” Stihl bar, Granberg International ripping chain, and 36” Granberg Alaskan mill. After the first cut, I switched over to the powerhouse Stihl MS 881, paired with a 41” Stihl bar, 41” Granberg ripping chain, and the 48” Granberg Alaskan mill.
