The Parliament has voted to amend the Constitution to dissolve atoll councils, paving the way for significant changes to the country’s decentralisation framework. The proposal, submitted by Baarah MP Ibrahim Sujau, sought to remove the constitutional requirement for the formation of atoll councils.
