In this case , the German soldiers occupying the Channel Islands buried two British RAF Pilots . They were shot down and their wreckage washed up on the beach. The Germans and local population draped their coffins in Union Jacks and buried them. German soldiers acted as pallbearers . They gave them a gun salute as they buried them.
