Petroleum Inclusions in Quartz: this doubly terminated (pointy at both ends) clear quartz crystal has small chambers filled with petroleum oil and small bubbles of methane gas- trapped within the crystal since its formation about 100 million years ago. Under ultraviolet light the fluorescent oil emits bright blue and green light showing the presence of the many chambers in the crystal, some quite small.
